Why is cataloging stuck?
It is not normal for cataloging to really be stuck, but it may appear that way. For example:
- If you have tens of thousands of files, cataloging may take many hours so it could be just cataloging very slowly rather than stuck
- If while an external device is being cataloged you unplug it, cataloging will stop
- When you switch back to the software after doing something else on your computer, it may take a few seconds for the window to refresh and show the current status
- If you add more devices to be cataloged, the overall percentage completion may go backward - for example, it was 99% complete and after adding another device it goes down to 50% overall completion
