The Single Item View

Items in your EdgeRover™ catalog are displayed in different views, such as Widgets, search results and Collections, and in different ways, such as in lists and thumbnail grids.

Wherever you see a file, you can click on it to open a special view called a Single Item View. Here you can see a large and high quality Preview of a file, play a movie or audio file, get more information about a file and take actions on it.

Remember that EdgeRover works with a catalog of your content. The preview image is created by EdgeRover when cataloging and is not the original file stored in your sources.

If the file in the Single Item View is part of a group of files, putting the mouse cursor over the left and right sides of the preview causes and buttons to appear that you can use to move to the previous or next file in the group. You can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move back and forth between files in the group.

Seeing more details of the preview image

When viewing a preview, you may want to get a better view of details in the image. There are two ways to do this.

Click on the button to let EdgeRover use your entire screen.

To return to the normal view, you can click on the button or press the Escape key on your keyboard.

To zoom in, click on the button. Once you have zoomed in, if the image no longer fits in the viewing area, you can click anywhere on the image and drag it around.

To zoom out, click on the button. You can also click on the button or double click on the image to return it to the default size.

File actions

Above the preview there are buttons that allow you to take actions on both the item in the catalog and on the original file. Here are just a few examples:

More Info: View information about the file and enrich it with your own description to help you remember related information and tags to make it easier to find in future.
Open: Open the original file, if it is currently available. The file opens in the default application on your computer for that type of file.
Show Location: Open the folder the file is in using the Microsoft Windows® File Explorer or macOS Finder, with the selected item highlighted.
Add to Collection: Start the process of adding the item to a new or existing Collection.
Rename, Copy, Delete: Open the Microsoft Windows® File Explorer or macOS Finder with the selected item highlighted so that you can rename it, copy it or delete it.
